clear how he wound up in the lanes. investigators aren't sure if he tried to run across the freeway or if he may have fallen from the overpass. a special traffic alert was issued at 1:00 this morning. while the white three lanes were shut down for the investigation. all lanes reopened just after two. the hunt for a san jose murder suspect is now state-wide. police are looking for 25-year-old juan ramirez, who is wanted in friday's fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend abc7 news reporter lisa amin guleziana has the story. >> reporter: they arrived with crosses and condolences. they are mourning the loss of their friend and family member, sandra gonzales. the young mother was stabbed to death a few feet from her home on north first street. now the manhunt is on for juan ramirez, the ex-boyfriend.

>> he's apparently been trying to talk our victim for the last double years, multiple encounters with the police, reporting this type of activity. >> they said she lived here with her ten-year-old son she was outside a few feet away in the parking lot when ramirez stabbed her, stabbing her in the head and arms. >> held her head up, kept pressure on it and i said who did this? can you give me a name, any name? she couldn't really talk. >> ramirez ran away and police in the s.w.a.t. team surrounded the area. a door to door search led nowhere. during that time dents were told to stay in their homes. lowell was in his apartment for three hours. he knew her, but he didn't know about her ex-boyfriend. >> she was nice to people and for me, i had no trouble or didn't see anybody. >> ramirez they believe is driving this green pickup truck to mexico. detectives admit what happened yesterday is not only sad, but frustrating.

>> she was doing all of the right things. she was contacting the police department, she was reporting these crimes, she was pulling out restraining orders trying to protect herself from this individual. it's very unfortunate that this happened. >> and this was san jose's tenth homicide of the year. in san jose, lisa amin guleziana, abc7 news. it has resumed in marysville where two people were killed at the raceway last weekend. a 14-year-old boy was laid to rest in a private ceremony yesterday. a public memorial is planned for this afternoon. flags were flown at half staff. and 68-year-old dale wonder gem of grass valley. both were killed when a car flew flew off the track in warmups. stands filled the stands last night in support of the victim and the sport. >> it's a real close family between all these racers. we love coming here and watching this and what happened last

weekend is bad. but it's great everybody is here and they are still rating. >> last weekend's crash is still under investigation, but list say mechanical failure in the race car appears to be the likely cause. >> this morning a victim who was culled unconscious from a house fire last night in san francisco is in the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the fire broke out in the diamond heights neighborhood shortly after 9 last night. a charred mattress was left in the street. flames were put putt quickly and the fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. >> a san francisco club is closed this weekend of a yesterday morning's shooting that left three people wounded. it happened at 330 rich nightclub in south beach. one man remains in critical condition. witnesses say dozens of shots were fired by one or more gunmen after an altercation. police collected more than 50 pieces of evidence from the crime scene that screeched from inside the club, up the alley, to a parking lot on bran

nonstreet. the stay entertainment commission ordered the club closed for the remainder of the weekend. san leandro police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. authorities say a man was killed friday night when he tried to defend his mother-in-law. the wnman was unloading her car on arbor way around 9:30 when someone tried to rob her. her 33-year-old son-in-law was shot while trying to help her. police are looking for two suspects, possibly a man and woman who drove away in a dark-colored sedan. >> for the second time this month santa clara county paid cash for weapons. a gun buy back was held yesterday morning at an airport in san jose. people lined up early and turned in guns they no longer wanted and got cash. >>ner use it. but i didn't want to take that chance getting angry and using it. so it's a good time to turn it in and make a profit. >> whereas last year we finally reached the level of twelve guns, this year we've now gone

over 500 guns. just in this event alone. >> $100 was given forehand guns and rifles. $200 for assault-type weapons. more than 1100 weapons were turned in at the buy back three weeks ago. also new this morning a mural memorializing the victims of the 2010 san brunette to no gas explosion victims is finished ask it will be dedicated today. the wall at bethany presbyterian church shows healing from the pain from the gas line explosion that killed 8 people in the neighborhood. 38 homes were destroyed. volunteers and painters came together to add to an existing painted. it shows healing waters and a rainbow of hope. it take place right after this morning's palm service. >> thinking of which pope francis has just finished giving his first palm sun mass at the vatican.

changing in the next couple of days. in fact, as we all get ready for maybe spring break or easter, it could be wet into the upcoming weekend. 15 oakland, 46 san carlos with 36 in half moon bay. we really need any rain we could get. this morning we are clear and cool. a few patches of fog by half moon bay. numbers chilly there in the 30s. we are looking at just a couple hundred feet of some of the low cloudiness. that will bring more sunshine this afternoon. but we are looking at occasional high clouds and the rain chances increase by the end of the week. so high pressure has remained off the coast and there is a couple weak systems that will drop down from the north. but i noted before, i'm not going to make much headway except for increasing clouds. our flow is going to turn more on show tomorrow w a few increasing clouds and that on shore push, we will be cooler to start the work week but today we are staying really mild once again with temperatures above normal in some spots. still a few 70s around the

bay. and a few areas of cirrus from time to time, but another beautiful day and the warmest and sunniest of the next seven days really continues with today. but state-wide, look how mild and warm it is from north to south. 57 in the northern sierra with 64 in yosemite and in los angeles numbers in the upper 60s. at our coast really not bad. it could get pretty gusty and breezy this time of year and actually it will by the first couple of days of the upcoming work week. then with the increasing clouds, temperatures definitely going to be cooler than what we felt this weekend. highs today around the bay, 62 in san francisco with mid-60s on the peninsula, upper 60s. so very similar to yesterday. san jose 70 in napa. the cool 50s remain from half moon bay, 70 concord and as we look ahead you notice the numbers come down each and every day with increasing clouds, especially come bertuzzi and wednesday. a slight stance of showers but as we get into the rest of the work week you see we are not

prepared the country is to deal with meteor strikes. cameras from new england to florida caught video of the meteor friday night. it was only about the size of a refrigerator so no problem there, but it comes just a month after a much larger meteorite crashed into a russian village and there are more that size on the way. >> in russia it it was a large astroid maybe 50 or 60 feet across and it detonated in the atmosphere almost like a nuclear bomb but without the radiation. >> the number of undetected city killers is very large. it's in the range of 10,000 or more. >> better detection of these events could enter help us evacuate target areas, as well as one day even redirect their path. san francisco's brand new exploratorium opens april 17th. abc7 is the exploratorium's official tv partner with exclusive access to the historic science museum. this morning abc7 news anchor

dan ashley shows us a behind the scenes look at how the exploratorium is taking hands on to a whole new realm. >> the new exploratorium is on pirro 15 at the san francisco's waterfront. the building has been renovated and the scramble is on to get the exhibits finished. a lot of that work is being done here in the machine shop but one big change for the new exploratorium is that in the past the focus was on exhibit made by the staff. that's what these guys are doing. but in the new building there is an entire gallery dedicated toughie'stors, to give them the chance to go right in there and make things for themselves. this is the future home of what's called the tinkering studio. it's a concept the exploratorium tried out last year at the old building with a cozy make it yourself space and several huge events where people reconnect with how things work. no right or wrong, just tools, supplies, and imagination. it was a huge hit. >> you learn and think

differently when you are constructing things. >> karen wilkinson is director of the tinkering studio. karen and her staff are very busy are collecting a wild collection of interesting gadgets to get your creative juices flowing. this table is full of parts you would find inside things. >> inside of toys and school alarms. this one is a doorbell from my house, my old house. >> tinkerer ryan jenkins showed me some of the crazy contraptions that will be on display for inspiration. >> this is a scribbling machine which is something we make with kids. basically a motor, a battery and little piece of glue. when you turn it on it vibrates around and these markers draw a pattern on the piece of tape. it scribe else. >> the centerpiece of the new gallery is a giant clock still not quite finished. it's covered with tiny tinkerers, and it's work away to get creators into the mood. and check out with electrified bench that uses a tiny computer

in san francisco police have arrested several people suspected of being a tagging crew. we are told they will face felony charges. career kira klapper is live with the details. kira. >> good morning, katie. this big garage door behind me is where the crew of 11 people was just beginning to tag when a neighbor called police about 3:30 this morning and notified them to get down here. you can see they started this sort of outline of a mural with some chulk or marker and they were about to bring out their spray paint kansas and start covering it in when police arrived. we have video to show you of the ten adults and one juvenile who are going to be arrested. they had backpacks with 30 kansas of spray paint inside, large markers and pence. san francisco police say it's an unusual bust for them to make but they are pleased to take steps to put an end to tagging across the city. again, they are current letter i being booked into jail. we are told it will take quite
